"Error reading file" error on network drive

You may get an error when starting Stonefield Query (or less frequently after Stonefield Query has already started) indicating that the program had an error reading a file on a network drive. There are a couple of causes for this:

  • Anti-virus software is currently scanning the file, preventing Stonefield Query from accessing it. The solution is to configure your AV software to not scan the folder where Stonefield Query stores its data files.
  • If the drive is a mapped drive, the server may be configured to recreate connections from time to time. Have your IT staff use Group Policy Editor to change this setting: User Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > Drive Maps, and change "Recreate" to "Update"
