How do I Install Stonefield Query on a Terminal Server?

Applies to:

  • Stonefield Query for AccountMate

  • Stonefield Query for ACT!

  • Stonefield Query for Alere

  • Stonefield Query for GoldMine

  • Stonefield Query for HEAT

  • Stonefield Query for Sage 300 ERP

Solution: The initial installation of Stonefield Query is done on a terminal server in the same way you install other applications on a terminal server. You can locate Microsoft's instructions for doing this under the "Installing Programs" section of the following link:

Once the install is completed, you can launch the software and install licenses as part of the initial setup. Upon logging in to the software for the first time, you can create additional users under Tools->Maintain Users and Groups.

Load Balancing: If you wish to install Stonefield Query on multiple terminal servers for load balancing purposes, you can use the following steps:

1) First, install Stonefield Query on one of the terminal servers using the method referred to in step 1. The installation path doesn't need to be a local physical hard disk on that terminal server, and can be a network share instead (say on a file server).

2) The path you installed to in step 1 must be shared across the network, so that it is accessible via the additional terminal servers. For this example, we will say it was installed to \\appserver\query.

3) On each additional terminal server, browse to the share \\apserver\query, and locate the wssetup.exe. This is a workstation installer.

4) Run the wssetup.exe workstation located in step 3 using the appropriate installation method for terminal server (please see previous MSDN link).
