After downloading a Stonefield Query installer from our web site, you may see a "Setup.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer" warning message. This message is caused by a new Microsoft system for verifying the authenticity of downloads called SmartScreen.

While this new system does insure that you are downloading an application that has not been tampered with, it also introduces errant warnings, especially with a newly released software applications and updates such as Stonefield Query.

Our installers are digitially signed and have a valid certificate. You can see this yourself by right-clicking Setup.exe, choosing Properties, and selecting the Digital Signatures page of the Properties dialog. However, due to the nature of how Windows is handling security, it is common for newly released or updated applications to experience false warnings about security. This warning will eventually go away as more people download and install the software over time.

Here are some detailed installation instructions to help you install:

Windows 7

If you see the "Setup.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer" message, click the "Actions" button. Click the "More options" button, then click "Run anyway".

Windows 8 and Windows 10

If you see the "Windows protected your PC. Windows SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk" message, click "More info" and click the "Run anyway" button.

Please contact us if you have any problems or questions with installation.
